Secret Garden - Bridal Shoot

Tucked away off a road in Northern New England, I found this secret garden. It is hiding in plain sight but my guess would be that it is hardly ever visited. Which is a shame (or maybe not for my sake) since it was so beautiful; a very serene spot. We had the place to ourselves the whole morning. And it make the perfect backdrop for this vintage inspired bridal shoot.

As someone who has a strong love for the vibe, aethetic, history of the 1940’s I was thrilled when the bride told me she was switching her dress to a 1940’s inspired gown. Seeing it in person, I loved it. But when I went to edit the photos and saw everything from the lens of a finished image, I was smitten. These photos to me truly feel like a 1940’s inspired bridal shoot.

This pergola makes for the perfect backdrop. Seeing it in person I was thinking “Score! This will make for a great spot to shoot!” but then seeing it as I was editing the photos I was thinking “Damn girl! (girl being the pergola, of course.) Get it!”

Even more impressive than the pergola? The bouquet. Why you ask? Because the bride MADE the bouquet out of WOOD! (Mind blown, I know). You would have never even thought it was anything other than real flower if I hadn’t told you. Take a look at this! She hand made a stunning, ever-lasting, bouquet from cutting, shaping and dying wood. Take a closer look:

I love being a New England Based Photographer. There is so much nature to use as my backdrop. Nature does all the hard work of being drop dead gorgeous, just simply by existing. I always love when a client is the outdoorsy type and willing to crawl over rocks, hike through bushes, or in this case, even stand on a semi-stable log in a pond to get the shot! This couple is just that type of client so they felt very incorporated into the scenery.

If you’re a New England Based Couple (or beyond, I’m up for travel!) and are looking for a Wedding/Elopement Photographer, send me a message! Let’s start planning your dream bridal shoot!
